Phyrne Fisher series

Has anyone read the Miss Fisher/Phyrne Fisher series? - Australian author Kerry Greenwood's series of Phryne Fisher detective novels. Would you recommend them? I’ve watched some of the tv series adaptation episodes via PBS and Netflix.

Re: Death Comes to Pemberley

I admit to not having read the book, but I watched the TV adaptation which aired on PBS and included one of my favourite British actresses, Anna Maxwell Martin. She also was in the cast of the adaptation of a Agatha Christie book And Then There Were None.

Wow - I think I'm going to search out some of these titles myself :D Just a question though - Was Rutherford's novel not issued under two titles for differing markets? I was under the impression that Dublin and The Princes of Ireland were the same book, but I could be wrong. TPI is certainly all ab...

Re:

I haven't read it yet, but I've heard raves about Galway Bay. Its finally on the hold shelf at the library waiting for pickup, and many more waiting for their turn as well so I'd take that its creating quite a buzz. While it's better classified as a novel in a historical setting and not a historica...

Re: Irish Historical Fiction

My fave hist fiction of 2017 includes a hist fic novel by an Irish writer featuring an Irish-American immigrant protagonist (Days Without End - Sebastian Barry), a novel set in Ireland in the 1850s (The Good People by Hannah Kent) & a novel featuring Irish writers Samuel Beckett & James Joyce (A Cou...

Everything by Sebastian Barry, starting with The Secret Scripture and continuing through the McNulty Family series. Excellent.

Book search - illus. Children’s book re Old man, moon, devil

I’ve been looking for this book for about 10 years now with no luck. I don’t know the name or title. Just these things that I remember from reading it in the 1970s or early 80s: It was an illustrated children’s book about how the old man ended up in the moon with only a spider for company (and an il...

Vintage costume jewelry

I have a bit of a collection of antique and vintage costume jewelry. Nothing really valuable, mostly vintage circa 1960s, but a few nice pieces. I like brooches, rhinestones, and micromosaic pieces in particular.
