Re: Need a cheery read!
If you haven't found anything yet, the Christmas book I'm reading now is very light hearted and good fun. A Christmas With The Dodger by Charlton Daines. The Artful Dodger is mature and settled, and has a foster son as well as children of his own, but a leopard never totally changes its spots.

Christmas Reads
What is everyone reading for Christmas? Personally, I love Victorian Christmas stories. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is very traditional of course, but I like a change now and again too. I've started reading A Christmas With The Dodger by Charlton Daines, which has that Victorian/Dickensian ...

Re: Victorian Ghost Stories!
Charles Dickens wrote some excellent Victorian ghost stories. There's a collection of them on Amazon for free if you have an ereader, or they can be had from Gutenberg.

Re: Sequels and prequels for Dickens characters
I've come across three sequels for Tiny Tim: Christmas Parcel by Alydia Rackham (Haven't read yet) Mr. Timothy by Louis Bayard (DNF) Tim Cratchit's Christmas Carol by Jim Piecuch (reasonably good) There is also Marley’s Ghost by Mark Hazard Osmun, which I haven't seen. As for The Artful Dodger, seve...

Re: Irish Historical Fiction
This is an old thread, but I recommend the author Ali Isaacs for Irish Historical Fiction. She brings the old tales alive very well.

Personally I loved this series, and knowing that Jacq is an Egyptologist lends credence to the factual information.

Re: Who are your favorite HF King/Queen/rulers and why?
Queen Elizabeth I is probably one I find most interesting, closely followed by her cousin, Mary Queen of Scots. I also have an interest in Ghengis Khan and in Alaric I of the Visigoths.

Re: What are you reading: November 2015?
I spent October reading ghost stories, but now reading some Victorian stories to get in the mood for Christmas. Currently on Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens and Jack Dawkins by Charlton Daines.
