Re: What Are You Reading February 2019?

I'm reading War Nurses by Lizzie Page. It's a fictionalization of the friendship and WWI nursing efforts of historical figures Elsie Knocker and Mairi Chisholm, known as the Madonnas of Pervyse. I don't know enough about either to have an opinion on how the author handles their characterization or c...

Re: The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

I haven't listened to a good travel book in a long time, so I picked up Kapka Kassabova's Border: A journey to the Edge of Europe, which is part travelogue, part memoir and historical rumination about the borders and people who have lived along the margins of Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece.

Re: The Most Annoying thing today

Re: What are you reading in April?

After watching and enjoying the first two seasons of The Last Kingdom on Netflix, I’ve started re-reading Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories from the very beginning. I had only read up to book five years ago, so I hope to catch up on all the later ones.

Listening to Hawk Quest by Robert Lyndon. At nearly 29 hours in overall length, this will probably be my last audiobook for the year.

Versailles (tv series)

Is anyone watching Versailles? I started watching season 1 (now available on Netflix) and am enjoying it quite a bit.

Re: what are you reading August 2017?

I'm finishing up A Gentleman in Moscow and was pleasantly surprised that Richard Vanderwhile is in this book. He's also in Rules of Civility, so it is like bumping into an old friend. 8-)
