There are going to be 34 books altogether, so I think that makes two more. CHE's contract runs out then, which is a shame as I think she wanted to bring the story up to the present day. I think there have been talks of a petition or there is a petition - I'm not sure. I know a few people who have written directly to the publishers asking to extend her contract, but I don't think it's made much difference.

I'm awaiting my paperback copy of The Foreign Field, which coincides with CHE's new hardback, The Fallen Kings, being published. It's in the post apparently, but not sure when I shall receive it due to the postal strike! I hope it doesn't get lost. I have a bookshelf devoted to the Morlands and I have loved seeing it grow. How sad am I!!

I've never heard of this series, but it sounds great. I LOVE a long series, and I just ordered the first book from PBS (they had ONE copy available!). If I can get a few series going at the same time, then I won't burn out on any of them.

Thanks for that, Marg. I know of some people who will be interested to know about this.

Ooh, that's nice.
I was planning at some point to buy all the current UK paperbacks, as I only have a very few of the older editions. But I may now buy the US editions, if they are going to be published with these nice new covers.

I'm beginning to get sorely tempted by this series! I've seen a couple of them around, but they tend to be much later books so I haven't bought them, but I am tempted by the early books, as I like that period of history, plus of course you usually have to start at the beginning!

I think you would enjoy them, Madeleine. Amazon and the Book Depository sell them.

I probably would, that's the problem! I've got so many piles of books including the Loveday, Poldark and Forsyte series all waiting to be read.

I've read the first few and very much enjoyed them. I was a little wary of starting another series that is so long, but in the end decided to just go for it.
