laktor: I swear this didn't happen, so I'm very surprised the producers and writers did this. I wonder why? The story is good without them making things up....bothers me about Game of Thrones is people really putting bastards down....

I also watched it and thought...I don't remember this in the books. As to why change a good story I don't know, unless they are trying to make Dany's storyline more interesting to the viewer. I did find her chapters a bit boring, but there are others who love the Dany/Dothraki storyline. I think when it comes to the bastards in the book, the author is only following past history when being illegitimate was a stigma...But in the end one feels a comraderie with these characters Aka Jon Snow and Gendry and you just long for them to succeed.

Madeleine: They've also altered some of Jaime's scenes too...I enjoyed his scenes and it was nice, in a weird way....I noticed they've also altered the Theon/Bran/Rickon storyline....

Now there is a character who I wouldn't miss if the producers decided to kill him off. I find Theon totally boring as well as the whole Greygrims...but moving on....I look forward to seeing more of Jaime and his interaction with Brienne.
Also I was surprised by Ygritte clean look. I was expecting someone with wild hair and perhaps a more feral type behaviour...Osha is definately more wild looking.

Sometimes I don't know why producers make changes when the storyline is good anyway. It was the same with the Tudors, they changed so many things when the facts are more interesting than the make believe.

Oh well...I just hope they leave...TYRION ALONE! lol.

Yes, I thought that, Laktor. I didn't remember her at all. I thought I was just having one of my senior moments. LOL.

I saw that too Laktor and wondered what they were up too? I hope they don't deviate too much. I wondered if it is because Robb has a fan base out there.

Robb spoiler below.

I wonder what else the producers will change? Be interesting to find out.

OK, after reading Bec's spoiler about Robb I now hereby promise not to read any more spoilers, unless it's about characters I don't like! Did that happen

It did.

I dropped the book for a while at that point, too. A day, maybe. I was mad. You should have heard my husband rant and yell about what bad plotting it was. How you can't make the Starks the protagonists and then do all that to them. No story left. It took him even longer to go back to it than me.

It's strange because I don't remember the producers adding anything in Season 1 that wasn't in the book, but they are adding a LOT for this new season. And Sharz, I didn't read your spoiler, and don't want to know, but how far into Storm of Swords does this big event happen that seems to get a lot of people upset?

Awe I'm sorry Madeleine, I didn't mean to spoil anything for you or anyone, that's why I put the 'Robb Spoiler' as a warning in case folks haven't read that far into the books.

It happens in Storm of Swords, that's the book I threw across the room and I nearly didn't finish the books because that scene made me So mad!! But I love Tyrion, Bran, Arya and Jon etc..Even Jaime is interesting in a pendulum kind of way, but I never forget what he did to Bran, so if anything happens to him, I wont shed tears.

Sharz: the Starks the protagonists and then do all that to them. No story left. It took him even longer to go back to it than me.

I really don't know what was driving Martin on this, because I think it was a huge mistake...Let's face it I couldn't give a toss about the Greyjoys, any of them.

Stark Spoiler Alert

Laktor: how far into Storm of Swords does this big event happen that seems to get a lot of people upset?

In my copy Laktor it takes place on page 704 the chapter heading is Catelyn. But some books have it on page 583. In some cases the books were split into two and I don't know what copy you have. I hope that helps.

If it's any comfort by the end of Dance with Dragons.

Tyrion Alert: in a good news type of way.

I agree with you Bec, I'd probably forgive Jaime most things except for what he did to Bran.

In the UK, the 3rd book has been split into 2 separate books, so going by the page number you give, I would think it happens in the second book.
