Default RIP Jean Simmons

She has died at 80, she played Elizabeth I before becoming Queen, in "Young Bess", among other famous works. May she rest in peace!:

I first fell in love with her in Young Bess. That flaming red hair and that dramatic moment when her shadow appears at the top of the staircase in the Tower: wow.

All the older classic movie stars are passing away. Having grown up watching them at the actual movies (40s and 50s films were shown at the theatres in Spain when I was growing up) it's quite sad to see them go.

She was a beautiful woman. I would watch shows about the Bible and she narrated a lot of them and had such a distinctive beautiful voice.

That's sad news. I remember her in The Thorn Birds. Wasn't she married to Stewart Granger for a while?

I always thought she was beautiful too. She starred in a lot of those big, budget historical epics. I probably remember her most for Spartacus and Big Country, which are favorites of mine.

She was always one of my favorites along with Katherine Hepburn. The Robe with Richard Burton was always a fav to watch every Easter.

She was in a great 1940s melodrama called Baby Face.

The other film I really remember her for was Great Expectations, she only played the young Estella (Valerie Hobson took over for the second half) but she was amazing. I remember thinking they should have put more make up on her and let her play Estella throughout.

I remember her in Desiree opposite Marlon Brando, a real creampuff of a film, but gorgeous costumes.

Oh, yes, Desiree - that's on my list to rent as soon as it comes out on DVD in the UK.
