Oh, I also meant to add that I think Vicky's son, Willy, had a strange sort of love-hate relationship with her. He did treat her abominably but there is such a sense of the lost little boy in him. Princess Marie Louise's biography contains some lovely descriptions of Vicky, one of which describes her as never being fully happy...if she was in Italy she would say, "Oh but this doesn't compare with Balmoral...." If she was in Balmoral she would say, "Ah but the Hart Mountains are so much more beautiful...." Basically, I think Vicky was a brilliant soul and brilliant mind who never found an outlet for her brilliance :-(...and yes, how tragic about the loss of Waldemar and little Sigismund....
