I have a problem with Martin's books because of the lack of time progression. He writes his characters in a 'fly by the seat of their pants' way in that they meet one obstacle after another, and yet, are we never to see how these challenges shape them as adults? In the last two books are they still going to be children?

Like you I also threw that particular book across the room. I was so angry with the author, mainly because he does suck you in, which is his particular genius and you simply have to know what happens-even to the characters you don't like much.

Yes I suppose one tends to forget what you were like at 9 years old(I pray God that I had more sense than Sansa!) and the child actors in the show are truly talented. They really do bring alive these incredible characters including the actress who plays Sansa.

I am only hoping that Martin does not change Tyrion too much, because it is that streak of humanity and compassion that makes one truly love and admire this character.

Ah, so they're dividing book 3 up into two series. Does that mean we will have to wait a year between the two?

Looks like it

Loved this week's ep, I've posted about it on the Movies and TV thread. They did change it quite a bit from the book, no chain in the bay but I suspect that was down to budget constraints. Thought it was an excellent episode and felt quite wrung out afterwards

Last weeks episode included Catelyn releasing Jaime with Brienne and then Robb puts his mother under arrest. Then Cersei thinks she has outsmarted Tyrion, but she hasn't..You gotta love him.

In the scenes for next week I heard a bell tolling and Tyrion is in army gear while Joffrey is wailing that 'there is too many of them'...I take that is the finale?

I hope they will cut the adverts out as sometimes the show only seems to run for 40 mins!

I suppose Season 3 will begin same time next year?....I also read somewhere that the actor Peter Dinklage who plays Tyrion has signed on for 6 seasons? If it is true that is good news.

Bec...Any news about Martin's next book er 'The Winds of Winter?'

There's one more episode after "Blackwater."

Winds of Winter has a scheduled release date of 2013, but we'll see.

Thanks Laura. I just peeked at a trailer of the 'Blackwater' episode and I haven't seen that one. I wish they had made a 2 hour finale...but then again after this season we will have to wait an entire year for season 3...As for the book 'Winds of Winter' I'll believe it when I see it...Martin isn't known for keeping deadlines.

So I've heard more than one person say they threw Storm of Swords across a room at one point. I'm assuming this was done out of disgust or frustration. Well, I'm halfway through the book and haven't yet felt the need to do the same. How much longer do I have to read before this "event" happens??...and don't spoil it by telling me what the event actually is!

It's near the end, I think. At least 2/3 or 3/4 into it. I did not feel the urge to throw it though (and not just because I was reading on my Kindle and therefore couldn't). I was shocked but not so much angry.

In my book the incident takes place on page 703 in SoS(Chapter header 'Catelyn'). I did throw my book across the room but I have learnt NOT to have anymore favourites. It may be different tho with you because in some countries SoS was printed as two books.

I still haven't heard anything about 'Winds of Winter.' But I did hear that Tara Fitzgerald will be joining the cast of GOT next season.
