Default Jane Finnis

Moseyer has just contributed reviews of the first two mysteries in Jane Finnis's Aurelia Marcella series, about an innkeeper on a Roman road in northern Britain during a time when the Brigantes are restless (when weren't they?). The first is Get Out or Die (see review), and the second is A Bitter Chill (see review). They sound really good, so I'm planning to take a break from reading review books to indulge myself. There's a third out, too, Buried Too Deep. According to an article at ThinkQuest:

Quote:
The inns ... were not safe. Fights broke out. Murders occurred. Whenever possible, a traveler stayed with a friend of the family or even a friend of a friends’ family.
Sounds like a grand premise for a mystery series!

I was lucky enough to meet Jane last year at the York Roman Festival, where I was giving a talk. I was attracted by her books then, and they've been on my TBR list since. It's good to hear that other readers are enjoying her novels.

I heard of her books a few years ago and was eager to try them, but if I'm remembering right, they weren't available in the US yet. Now they are--and available on Kindle, too. Thanks for reminding me, Margaret!
