All of our animals are named after a real person or a fictional character:

We also have a bird (Pippin) and a chinchilla (Wicket) but don't have any photos handy.

They do keep me busy (and cause me to have a lot of vet bills!) but they're worth it!!

So cute! Especially Reese's fierce underbite!

I think I should send a photo of Reese to area orthodontists and ask if they could use her for advertising purposes! :D

We've just learned that our big Boston (Butler) has cancer and very little can be done. We are heartbroken -- he's only 7 or 8 years old (he's a rescue and we don't know exactly how hold he is). My daughter (16) is devastated. This has been sudden and totally unexpected. I would appreciate all prayers/good thoughts thrown our way as we go through this difficult time.

I'm so sorry! I just went through a cancer scare with my dog so I know how frightened you must be! Have you gone to a canine Oncologist? I would really make an appt. and go on what they say rather than a regular vet. Good luck and I"m sending good positive healing thoughts and vibes to Butler.

We had to put Butler down last weekend. It was a hard decision but the right one, though I'm having a hard time dealing with the fact that this has happened in the first place. I'm still in a state of shock -- not doing any of the things I need to be doing, nor even checking out my favorite internet sites (this is the first one I've come to, actually). My daughter (who is 16) is devastated. Thanks for all the kind words, thoughts and prayers.

sorry to hear your sad new Lynn. At least he was loved and cared for by all the members of his pack, but it is so difficult to come to terms with.
Thinking of you

So sorry to learn about Butler, MLE. It's so sad when a beloved pet dies, I can't bear the thought.

Thanks, everyone. This has been a horrible few weeks -- finding out Butler had cancer, the quick decline and, finally, making the decision to do what we had to do. We are slowly recovering but it's hard -- our dogs are members of the family and this has been heartbreaking. The fact that it's Christmas and everything should be "merry and bright" just makes it worse. But we will get through this and, in the not too distant future, some other, very lucky, homeless dog will hit the jackpot.

My thoughts are with you in this very difficult time, Lynn. It is devastating to lose a pet any time, much less during the holidays. I wish you and the family much love and comfort; Butler will always live on in your hearts.

Thank you -- I still miss him so much and expect to see him "smiling" up at me daily. It's been so hard that I'm only now getting back around to my familiar internet haunts.

We have adopted another pup -- didn't mean to so quickly but we have the means and love to do it so, when I saw her face, I just said "okay, meant to be". She is a cross between a Boston Terrier and a Pug -- a "Bugg". My daughter chose the name "Liesl" because she knew one of my favorite all-time movies is SOUND OF MUSIC and that was the eldest daughter's name -- and the name also means "God's Promise", which I thought appropriate.
