I am looking for some advice from fellow writers (and readers).
I am getting some interest from the USA for my book. But mail to the US from the UK costs over £5. There are several easy solutions to this, most of which involve having an agent or a US publisher, but I am not there yet.

The book is available in e-book format, but, as we all know, there are lots of people who still prefer real books.

One answer might be an indy US bookseller who might be willing to act as an US agent and distributor.

Or you folks may have a better suggestion?

Amazon of course are apparently able to despatch books at zero cost. Please don't suggest them as the solution.

Most of the reviewers/bloggers I interact with are all hopping on the Net Galley bandwagon, so e-copies should be a viable option. It is one less book I have to find a home for after I'm done after all - you can't swap/sell ARC's.

Set it up as a print-on-demand with Lightning Source. They have two plants in the US, one in England, and one in Australia.

If you are with Lightning Source, $12 per year keeps you in the Ingram catalog. Every online bookseller I know of downloads the Ingram catalog. Then when somebody orders a book, they print one at the nearest facility and mail it to whoever ordered it. Very simple.
