New to the Forum

Hello all!

Julianne Douglas (*waves at Julianne*) suggested I check out the Forum ... so here I am! :) Like all of you, I am passionate about historical fiction, all the way back to high school and Jean Plaidy/Victoria Holt. Further back to Gone with the Wind and Little Women!

I live in sunny Florida, where I am a fulltime art history professor and a when-I-can novelist. I grew up just outside Atlanta and am a bona fide Southerner. My first novel, The Sunflowers, will be published fall 2009 with Avon-A/HarperCollins and explores my favorite artist, Vincent van Gogh.

I have so many favorite authors I couldn't possibly list them all, but I'm a big fan of Tracy Chevalier, Susan Vreeland, Elizabeth Peters, and Joanne Harris, to name a few.

I look forward to getting to know y'all!

Hello and welcome to the group. I enjoy Tracy Chevallier's books, too. I also like Joanne Harris - her debut novel, The Evil Seed, has just been republished so I'm looking forward to reading that one.

I wish you luck with your book, it sounds an interesting read.

Glad to meet another bona fide Southerner, Sheramy. I'm a Van Gogh fan as well and am cross-stitching a rendition of his Fishing Boats. I'd love to read your VG novel when completed.

My first artistic love is for Winslow Homer, though. Love his Florida and Bahamas work.
