Hi,

Just wanted to take a straw poll - does anyone find Facebook an effective mechanism for spreading the word about your work?

I know you can have people become a fan etc, but you kind of need to have marketed yourself to them elsewhere to get them to go to your fb page and become a fan in the first place.

Just wondering as I'm in two minds as to whether to bother continuing to use FB for marketing.

I used facebook to link up with beaucoup former students and long lost friends. Made a decent number of sales from that. No idea about the results from strangers.

My editor and my agent both urged me to use Facebook. Like others, it helped me connect with old friends and former students. Where it's been the most helpful is getting word out to those people about upcoming book signings in their regions. That's been a huge help.

I'm not yet to the level of marketing on Facebook so I can't actually help. I'm not sure why I'm even posting this really. Been a long day.
