View Full Version : Any Lushies Around?

I hope there will be fewer people on this forum, if any at all, who mistake my meaning by the title of this thread.
I am referring to anyone who regularly purchases any of the amazing products made by LUSH (http://usa.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb/index.html?lang=en_US&dlang=en).
For those of you who are unfamiliar with LUSH, they are a company which sells all sorts of bath and beauty products made by hand and of natural products whenever possible. I have been a huge fan of theirs for about 3 years now. They tend to be on the expensive side so I generally treat myself only occasionally to their products.
My most current visit was last Saturday when I spent nearly 40$ on stuff. :o :D
I bought Running to the Embassy (http://usa.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb/02167?expand=Skincare) (yes they have quirky names for all of their products) for the rough spots on my feet, a tin to hold it in, an Avobath Bath Bomb (http://usa.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb/00052?expand=Bath) because I love the scent, and a facial mask called Cupcake. Unfortunately it seems that they don't feature the masks on their website so you cannot read the ingredients. I will tell you, though, that I used Cupcake last night for the first time and one of the ingredients is cocoa. For the whole ten minutes it was on my face, my stomach was growling. LOL
So... are there any other Lushies around? :D

Yes, I'm familiar with the shop and find it fascinating to look around. When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought you were talking about drunks!!! I was going to say I'm partial to a couple of glasses of red wine and perhaps the odd gin and tonic.... or two!!!!! But I'm not quite in the bracket of 'lush' just yet!;):D LOL.

That's what I was afraid of, Vanessa. The other forum I used the same title on... well I got about 3 responses about LUSH and the rest 20+ responses were about being alcoholics.

It gets people reading your posts, though!:D

So should I assume that since there are 38 views of this thread and only two people have responded that no one wants to confess they're lushes? LOL

I'll bite! I've been to one of the stores, and I really like their products, but they're a bit pricey for me on an everyday basis. These days, my indulgences tend to be yarn! I did buy my sister a six-pack of bath bombs for Christmas last year.
I often feel like the other kind of lush - my husband doesn't drink alcohol at all, so it's just me with the glass of wine or beer at our house.
I love some of the smells of their bath bombs but some of the 'bits in the bath' are a bit annoying!

ellenjane... yes I agree about the prices so I usually consider it a luxury. Thankfully the shop here is in a rather out-of-the-way place, the French Quarter, and as it's a pain to park down there, I don't go but once every few months.
EC... it was recommended to me that if you buy the bath bombs with the bits in them, put the bomb into a stocking first then put it into the bath. That way all the bits are trapped in the stocking. :)

I've never even heard of them before.

Aha! Good idea. Thanks ellenjane. I'll do that next time!
I usually ask Santa to put a few bath bombs under the tree at Xmas.

The products sound fun. Unfortunately, I'm a shower gal married to a man who doesn't care for scented things (they make his sinuses miserable), so a Lushie I shall never be.

Even if the fragrances are natural? That Avobath is scented with lemon grass.:) And they've just started making shower bombs too. That's their latest product. I'm generally a shower gal too, with baths being a luxury themselves.

I sure can't take credit for that! On our trip to NY last year, I put a "garden party" bath bomb in a hotel whirlpool tub. It was a nice relaxing bath, but I spent the rest of the evening cleaning up all of the petals it left. Good idea for the future, though. ;)
ETA: Now I'm looking at the website and seeing that there are actually three shops somewhat near me. Dangerous, dangerous!

Will have to check out the shower bomb! That does sound fun.
The do a shower gelly that is lovely! You rub it in before you get in the shower, and if you can, you leave it on for as long as poss before getting wet. Your body absorbs the smell and lovely soothing oils!
BTW....I am a Lushie too!

There are only three at the moment... one to wake you up, one to help you relax before going to bed and one to use with your partner before a night of romance. :o

Over at Epinions, there's a huge following who have written up reviews on LUSH products. I keep thinking about trying their products, but since there isn't a store near me, so far I've been safe. I am a big fan of Crabtree and Evelyn tho.

hahaha! i totally thought you were
looking for a drinking buddy. =D
and i don't--except for lattes and boba.
i go to england once a year, and
saw lush way back when. for being
a great fan of soaps (and only soaps,
perhaps this is the problem), i don't
usually use too much of their products.
i'm more a french soap fan--l'occitane
being the generic brand of shea butter
provence soaps i love.
great topic!

They're a Dorset company, I think. I'm from Dorset so I feel obliged to love Lush. I just wish their stores didn't smell so overpowering - it's quite hard to breathe in there

Well the shop here faces outside rather than being in a shopping centre and they keep the front doors open all day so it's not so bad in there.
OH man I adore Lush!
I could spend my whole paycheck there. I saw one in Dubrovnik last week and it was like I heard angels singing. Aaaahhh!
