The Antikythera Mechanism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antikythera_mechanism) has fascinated engineers and historians since it was first discovered in a ship wreck in 1900. The latest incarnation is in legos. Video and interview with the designer here:

Wonderful, Faith, thank you! I think the Antikythera Mechanism is utterly fascinating. What else did the ancients know how to do that we haven't 'discovered' yet?! (I like the AM so much I put it in my 3rd book, btw.)
