Wow, this is a bit of shock. He was being treated for pneumonia when he died, he was 84. May he rest in peace! He'll always be Frank Drebin to me!

I didn't realise he was as old as that! Very sad.
I didn't care for some of his movies - thought he went over the top. But his dead pan style was so perfect in Airplane.

My favourite line of his was from "Airplane":
Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it?
Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.
Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.

They just played that one back on the radio today. I can't recall anyone who could deadpan as good as he could.

I missed this completely. Thought he was younger than that. Condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
So sorry to read this. I was very fond of him. I adored his Frank Drebbin character.
Hale and farewell.

Regarding Leslie Neilson...At one time in his career most of his roles were on the serious side and was the lead actor in a huge Sci Fi cult film favorite called "Forbidden Planet".....I was not a fan of his Comedic roles....but happy that he had a long and very successful career....Very competent and likable actor....

Yes I thought he was older too, not a bad age though. I still don't know how they got away with that "beaver" remark!
