Hi all,

Some of you may remember I used to sell a lot on Ebay but when I got really sick last year my auctions have dwindled and I have only had one this year, compared to the times I used to have one every month.

Well I just won a huge lot of paperbacks, 48 in total, many of them historical fiction of the sort I sell (be advised the seller misspelled a few things and I corrected where I could, but some still may be wrong):
1. The Earl by Cecelia Holland - 12th century Earl of Stafford
2. Charles the King by Evelyn Anthony - Charles I
3. The Saracen: Land of the Infidel by Robert Shea
4. Fortune Made His Sword by Martha Rofheart - Young Henry V
5. Falcon to the Lure by Catherine Darby
6. The Falcon Tree by Catherine Darby
7. Fortune for a Falcon by Catherine Darby
8. Falcon's Claw by Catherine Darby
9. The Sceptre and the Rose by Doris Leslie - Charles II and Catherine of Braganza
10. My Brother Michael by Mary Stewart
11. The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart
12. Dear and Glorious Physician by Taylor Caldwell - Lucanus future St. Luke
13. The King's Brat by Constance Gluyas - A unknown mistress of Charles II
14. Son of York by Margaret Abbey - Time of Richard of Gloucester (Richard III)
15. The Warrior King by Brenda Honeyman - Henry V
16. The King's Daughters by Molly Haycraft - Daughters of Edward I - Elizabeth, Eleanora, Joanna, Margaret, and Mary
17. Katheryn, The Wanton Queen by Maureen Peters - Katherine Howard, Wife 5 of Henry VIII
18. Mistress of Mellyn by Victoria Holt
19. The King of the Castle by Victoria Holt
20. Excalibur (author not listed)
21. The Sixth Wife by Jean Plaidy - Katherine Parr, Wife 6 of Henry VIII
22. We Speak No Treason by Rosemary Hawley Jarman - Richard III
23. The Virgin Queen by Maureen Peters - Elizabeth I
24. Princess of Desire by Maureen Peters - Mary Rose Tudor
25. Destiny's Lady by Maureen Peters - Lady Jane Grey
26. The House of a Thousand Lanterns by Victoria Holt (cover is taped)
27. The Stuart Legacy by Robert Kerr
28. Royal Escape by Georgette Heyer - Charles II
29. Crown for Elizabeth by Mary Luke - Elizabeth I
30. The Legend of the Seventh Virgin by Victoria Holt (cover is ripped)
31. My Enemy the Queen by Victoria Holt - Elizabeth I & Lettice Knollys
32. The Shadow of the Lynx by Victoria Holt
33. Anne of the Thousand Days by Edward Fenton - Anne Boleyn, Wife 2 of Henry VIII
34. The Tower and the Dream by Jan Westcott - Elizabeth I & Bess of Hardwick
35. The Warwick Heiress by Margaret Abbey
36. The King's Grey Mare by Rosemary Hawley Jarman - Elizabeth Woodville
37. My Lord Brother the Lion Heart by Molly Haycraft - Richard I
38. Richmond & Elizabeth by Brenda Honeyman - Henry VII & Elizabeth of York
39. The Hollow Hills by Mary Stewart

46. I Am Mary Tudor by Hilda Lewis - Mary I
47. The Thistle and the Rose by Hester Chapman - Mary Rose Tudor & Margaret
48. The Forever King by Molly Cochran

I really didn't think I'd win, even though I was willing to go to a very high price, but I ended up winning them for $15.37 plus $14.25 s/h and $2.40 insurance.

When I get these and go through them all and jot down errors etc, I'll be listing them on Ebay. Probably won't be selling them all as I'm not sure how some will do, but if there's any you're interested in seeing listed let me know.

Wow...Jackpot! I am soooo jealous! Are you still selling on ebay? What is the name of your store, I will check you out!

I don't have any books on Ebay at the moment, but once I get these I will put them and some others I've been "hoarding" until I was reading to list them.

My ebay name is vera-and-sonja, but I assume I can still post when I have the auctions up on here as I did on the last forum. So I will let everyone know when they are up.

One of the books "Royal Escape" by Heyer is actually on my TBR list at BF, so I might hold it back for me to read.

Some of the books I don't even know who they are about, and might research them before I get them, some I do know.

Just a reminder ebay rates are going up. And I know they have shot up with books. I think they take 13 of 15 % of your final sale. And now that they are getting ride of personal checks, money order and cashiers check and can only use paypal they will get more money on top o fthat. I am so not amused with ebay right now.

What a great deal! I've read several of them but The King's Grey Mare by Rosemary Hawley Jarman holds a special place in my heart. I read it over 30 years ago and it was the book that turned my on to HF.

Cool! What a score! If you're planning on reselling them I'll buy The Earl by Cecelia Holland and The King's Grey Mare by Rosemary Hawley Jarman if they're still available from you!

Yeah I was hoping it wouldn't get that far, but I was surprised how "little" it went for!

No problem! I knew what it was about! I've been wanting to purchase it for a while now. I think it was Boswellbaxter that recommended it to me. For some reason or other I just don't have it yet.

Oh good! I hate it when I make mistakes and it only dawned on me after I posted that and you had already replied.

I may be a week or more before I get the books, then I have to do the laborious job of writing the auction pages for each one, which includes making notes on any problems the book(s) have, which in some cases can be a huge amount! I'm all for full disclosure of problems so no one can come back and say, "you didn't say there was a big rip on page so and so" or "underlining on page so and so".

I just won another auction, 3 books from Canada, I was the only bidder and the shipping will put me around $20 but one of them was a very rare book about Katherine Howard by Jean Evans, I believe called "Tudor Tragedy", I've never seen copies of this for sale or can find any online...
http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/9/6/0/1/3/9/webimg/170984813_o.jpg

"The Tudor Tragedy" by Jean Evans - published in 1972 by Robert Hale & Co, London

"The Young Elizabeth" by Jennett & Francis Letton - published by Harper Bros ©1953

"Scotland's Queen: Mary Stuart" by Marguerite Vance - stated first edition published 1962 by E P Dutton

I'm still waiting for my 48 books I won so I don't know if these will get here in time for the auctions or will have to be added another time.

I got the books today, but I'm still waiting on the 3 I won the the other day, and since It'll take awhile for me to write auction pages for all I plan to list, the auctions probably won't be till early Oct.

Are any of those particularly rare (and good)? I don't know enough about them to know.

If they're first edition hardcovers, Cecelia Holland's early novels (like The Earl) tend to command shockingly high prices. They may have come down a bit, though, now that she has reissued most of these via Lulu.

All of these are paperbacks, I will have some rare hardbacks in great condition to add but these have some wear to them, prices will start low.
