Movie gossip indicates that Angelina Jolie has been chosen to play Cleopatra in a forthcoming biopic of the legendary Egyptian queen. Some sources are hinting that a Burton/Taylor-type pairing could be repeated, with Brad Pitt playing Marc Antony.

I don't know Chuck, I think that'd be quite good.
And what's not to like about Pitt? Look at some of his more recent roles, like in "Burn After Reading" or "Inglourious Basterds" (or however Tarrantino ended up spelling the title).

I don't have a problem with the casting per se. They're both around the right age, for the end of their story, at least.
She's kind of the right colouring for the role as the Ptolemies were more Greek than Egyptian, I believe. Maybe he's a bit too blond for Antony...
I don't know. It could work. Depends more on the script etc than the actors as such.

Oh heaven forbid - all their baggage and nonsense that surrounds them would probablyy ruin it, even if it was a halfway decent film. I'm with Chuck on this one!

I actually like both of them as actors and don't see why their personal life would affect the film: sure, the press would have a field day, but the film itself could be good and I'd be happy with that.
If people watch it in 10 or 15 years, they probably won't be so aware of the craziness of "Brangelina". So yes, if it does come out and it's any good I'll force my now-nearly-3-year-old son to watch it when he's 15 and report back! :D Note to self: prod husband into working on that time-machine for easier future-Henry review collecting.

Could be good. At least they have chemistry! They are both good actors, given the chance, so I hope this one works for them.
And I also agree, why should the press hysteria surrounding them effect the movie. It should be judged on it's own merits.

Regarding BP....I keep conjuring up Pitt and his rediculous portrayal of Achilles in "Troy".....I agree not bad in IGB...the southern accent was a bit over the top....plus The Gestapo officer stole the show...(Can't remember the actor's name)....I still he has talent ....I just wish he would get back his mojo....

Totally agree. I suspend everything when watching a movie and generally am very disinterested in actors' personal lives.
Am also bookmarking this page in anticipation of Henry's review. Man oh man, I hope it's worth the wait!:p

I dont mind Jolie as an actress. If she got the part and the movie got good reviews I'd watchit.

:P I'm sure it will be.
"Henry, you have to watch this and write a review, I promised you would over 10 years ago."
"Meh."
"I'll reward you handsomely?"
"Ok...I'll do it."
(How I imagine the conversation going, remembering my brother at 15...)
while both are decent actors I cannot fathom it be any where near as good as some of the older versions.
