WHY! Wasn't the first two good enough! I loved the first one the best, I saw it in the theatre in 1984, and still remember a tiny bit about that day.

True, but this thread is to talk about those we hear about way in the future not just the rest of this year or movies we'd like to see or think others would be interested in before they come out. :D

I'm looking forward to Australia too, we had a mini-trailer the other day. I love going to the cinema, some films just have to be seen on the big screen at least once - I think it's the audiences who can be a pain! Although the other day, apart from some paper rustling, they were quite good. Some cinemas in the UK are going to start doing over-18only screenings of popular movies, like Bond and Australia, which I think is a good idea, although sometimes adults can be noisier than kids!

Crowe To Play Clinton?
16 December 2008 11:21 PM, PST
Russell Crowe is reportedly lined up to portray former U.S. President Bill Clinton in a new biopic.
The forthcoming film, entitled The Special Relationship, will focus on Clinton's dealings with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Michael Sheen - who played Blair in 2006's The Queen - is reportedly set to take on the role again for the new movie.
A source tells Britain's Daily Express, "Russell is currently our favourite to play Clinton. He might not initially appear the obvious choice but it's felt he could turn out to be ideal.
"It's understood his involvement could be confirmed early next year."

Ooh I hope this happens, "Hamlet" is my favourite play and I really like David:
Tennant's Hamlet To Be Made Into Film
David Tennant is planning to give fans another chance to see his short-lived stage performance of Shakespeare's Hamlet - a film version of the acclaimed play is in the making.
Tennant was forced to axe his West End run in the Bard's classic in December after suffering a slipped disc and subsequently undergoing surgery to correct the condition.
He managed to recover in time to return to London's Novello Theatre for one week of shows - but many fans were left disappointed after failing to catch the actor in the title role.
And now Tennant is to show fans what they missed by reprising the part for a special movie.
Hamlet co-star Oliver Ford Davies, who played the role of Polonius, says, "We are intending to film it over two or three weeks in June. It won't be a full feature film as there isn't time but it will certainly be more than just the filming of the stage."

What made the Redford/Newman version so good was the Goldman dialogue (and the chemistry between the two actors). It couldn't hold a candle... just who are those guys anyway?
On a different subject, does anyone know if they are still planning a remake of Tron? I thought I read a few years back that they were considering it, but it doesn't appear to be listed on IMDb, so I assume it never materialized. I think a remake of that one with modern technology could be cool.

Gad, I hope so! Costner, quite bluntly, has run his course, and hasn't done anything worth watching since Dances with Wolves. And as for Mel Gibson, after his drunken rant towards an LA cop and blatant anti-Semitism, I've vowed to never spend another dime on him again.

Don't know enough yet about highwaymen's fashion through the ages, but the IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0955308/locations) says that all the filming has been done in the UK. I had to check, because usually when I see a forest like that, it was filmed here in BC. (Not always, just often. :D)
We have plenty of pine forests in the UK (courtesy of the Forestry Commission) but Sherwood should be more deciduous woodland. Short tunics like that are generally of the fantasy costume variety. Later Medieval had more tailoring than the pic and where you might just get away with it (Viking) it's still on the somewhat short side. He should be wearing a knee-length tunic over a shirt, hose (tight fitting single-leg trousers) and braies (baggy underpants tucked into the trouser legs. The latter are attached to the waist of his braies by ties.
But as Telynor says, it might look as if he's wearing a dress to those who haven't got their eye in!

Angelina Jolie to play "Dr. Kay Scarpetta", sounds like it...
Jolie Takes New Suspense Thriller To The Big Screen
22 April 2009 6:25 PM, PDT
Angelina Jolie has landed a role in another suspense thriller - as a crime-solving medical examiner in a new film based on Patricia Cornwell's bestselling novels.
Jolie has signed on to play the title character from Cornwell's 16 novel series about forensic examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta - a woman with a messy love life who solves crime and loves the opera.
According to Variety, the film will not focus on a specific Cornwell title. But insiders say the deal could mean the start of a new franchise for the actress - who had her last series success with Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
The thriller is the latest in a string of crime-fighting characters for Jolie, who's starred in action films including Wanted, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Gone in Sixty Seconds.
Studio bosses have yet to line up a screenwriter or director for the new film.

I've never read her Scarpetta books, I tried to read her NF on Jack the Ripper but her writing style totally turned me off and it was wallbanged.

I loves me some Clive Owen! Trailer for his new movie "The Boys Are Back" (about a man who loses his wife and then has to raise their son and reconnect with a son from a previous marriage alone). It looks good and sweet:

"The Men Who Stare At Goats", just saw the trailer, and it looks hilarious and very good! I love the look at on Ewan McGregor's face when George Clooney refers to himself as a Jedi warrior (Ewan was of course Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi warrior).
It also stars Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges:

Simon Pegg & David Tennant To Star In 'Burke & Hare':
It was previously reported that Simon Pegg would be starring in the John Landis film, 'Burke and Hare'. Now, according to reports, David Tennant (Doctor Who) will be joining him as a fellow grave robber in the film Burke and Hare. At this time, it is not known who will play the role of Burke and who will play the role of Hare.
'Burke and Hare' is the story of William Burke and William Hare, Irish immigrants that robed graves to sell the bodies to Edinburgh Medical College for dissection in the early 1880s. Eventually the pair started to murder in order to get more bodies to sell.

I've read some about them in books about murder in England, but couldn't find a cheap book about them yet to read.
David Tennant is yummy!

Recently saw a trailer on "Sherlock Holmes"....full of OT the Special Effects.....Downy Jr...plays a disheveled Bohemian looking Holmes and a whining and very annoying Watson played Ewan Mcgregor.....SH and fisticuffs and numerous romps in bed with Damsels in Distress....Yes I will watch SH when it comes out on DVD.....Why are they messing with my head??????

Looks like yet another movie version of Jane Eyre is on its way - this time with Michael Fassbender as Rochester, and the actress who's playing Alice in the forthcoming Alice in Wonderland (Mia someone) as Jane.

Just saw a trailer of "Season of the Witch" 2010.....Starring Nicholas Cage as a 14th Century Crusader returning to his city and the Black Plague...No! it doesn't look like a redux of Bergman's "The Seventh Sin"....Looks interesting, but Nicolas Cage as a Crusading Knight?????....Not sure if he can pull it off....I'll wait...probably watch it when it's released on DVD....

This new film item might have already posted....Johnny Depp since his High School days has been obsessed with the old "Dark Shadows" soap opera...and Tim Burton/Depp are resurrecting "DS" and Mr. Depp will playing Barnabas Collins....

Sounds interesting, I visited Rochester earlier this year although didn't have time to go into the castle, wonder if they'll film in the actual location.
I see Richard Attenborough is in the cast, he's not been well for a while after a fall so wonder if he'll take part.

Mentioned this elsewhere, but thought I'd add it here- news that a mini-series based on Ken Follett's "Pillars of the Earth" is in the works, and due to screen around July next year. It's a Ridley Scott production, and filming will take place in Hungary and Austria. It has an interesting cast, including Donald Sutherland.

This might not be news.....A redux of " The Wizard of Oz"...So far Dakota Fanning as Dorthy, Eddie Murphy as the Scarecrow and Robert Downey Jr. as the Wizard.....Can't believe they would mess with the classic.....No I didn't care for the "The Wiz" either...

Hollywood has been running out of ideas for ages now. But yeah leave the classics alone for crying out loud! Someday we might hear that they're trying to find the NEW Scarlett for a redo of "Wind", oye!

Sonja, I've been working on recasting GWTW for years. It never works though. Impossible to find good enough actors/actresses for each role. The way to redo that one would be to make a point of not trying to imitate the 1939 version. And add more of the book. It would really make a better miniseries than feature film.
Dakota Fanning as Dorothy might work. Not sure sure about Murphy, though I suppose he could play a number of other parts as well. RJD as the wizard??? What??? The Cowardly Lion I could understand, but not the wizard.

My problem with most reduxs is that they will use OTT Special Effects and it will take away from the original charm of the earlier film....and believe me they will turn TWOO into a SE circus.....

You can't touch the classics and people should know that. Remember when they redid psycho. That was a bomb.
I couldn't imagine them redoing GWTW.
