:o Sorry. You'd be amazed what's available via public records online these days -- permit info, property ownership, court records, bankruptcy (including the financial statement (!!), jail rosters deeds of trust and more. Being in the business of chasing contractors for money and filing liens and notices and all that good stuff I come across all kinds of interesting links whilst googling :)

All that stuff always was available -- that's what public record means. the difference is, where you used to have to actually go to some physical location and look through dusty files, now you can bring it all up with a few keystrokes from thousands of miles away.

I always have a good chuckle when I hear my friends freaking out about say a Safeway card "I don't want them to have my personal info". They have _no_ idea.
