I was reading The Queen's Governess, by Karen Harper, today, when the following sentence struck me as funny (keep in mind, though that this is an ARC, and I presume the mistake witll be fixed before the book is published; and also be warned that the following sentence will make the book sound more romance-y than it really is):

"In the weak light of dawn, I tugged on the gown and sleeves I'd discarded like a wonton last night to fall into John's arms." (P. 257).

"Wonton?" LOL.

maybe she meant 'one ton'. You know those period dresses weighed a lot.:D

I'm hoping for a copy from the library and will check and see if it's fixed. I don't think anything will top the ARC I got for Figures in Silk. Just unbelievable, especially a couple of duplicated sentences.

They went out for Chinese last night? :p

I have a copy of the hardcover. Nope, not fixed. Oops. I'm guessing a spell-check ran amok.

Gee, who knew Chinese was so popular back then? ;)

That was bad, but then again it was an ARC.

I wanted to read this one too. Its a totally different perspective. I look forward to your review Kasthu. :)

Hilarious! Hope they catch it. Now everyone will look. :-)

Funny typos in student papers keep me amused during piles of grading. "Preshitoric" remains my all time favorite. Spell check, anyone? ;-)

Hehehe. I almost didn't catch that one.

I have had to teach my computer that 'solider' is actually 'soldier'.

Speaking of typos which have made it into print, I have had the 'pleasure' of reading in an HF novel (I'll refrain from mentioning the time period to spare the author blushes) how a general 'poured' over his maps, not to mention the hero committing 'breeches of discipline' and giving 'a board sigh'. He also 'waived in salute' on another page. I gave up after page 20...:( but managed to sell it on eBay for £2.75 :-)
