It's the start of a two part series tonight in the UK of Small Island by Andrea Levy (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00pdyg0). I'm looking forward to it as I loved the book!

Watched it and enjoyed it with some reservations. I haven't read the book but the whole thing felt very compressed - I get the feeling there's probably a lot more in the novel. I know that's always the case with adaptations to some extent, but it felt rushed in some places and a bit too much use of explanatory voice-over. Well cast and acted though, and wherever they shot the Jamaican scenes looked pretty convincing.

I've had the book in my TBR for the last three years and received it with high recommendations. Maybe I'll get a chance to see the BBC production and then finally read the book one day.

I couldn't get into the book at all - it was the author's voice. I gave up and moved onto something else. I haven't looked at the drama either, but I might well catch up on that via Love Film later on.
