I'm wondering if the script stays true to the book, will the mini-series require an "R" rating for violence and strong sexual contact (to phrase it delicately).

It's got an interesting cast. Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bennett from the 2005 P&P film are cast as Prior Philip and Bartholomew. That would be Matthew Macfadyen and Donald Sutherland. Rufus Sewell is also cast.

Though I wasn't that crazy about the novel, this will be a must-see for me. Sometimes when a long novel is filmed, the film turns out to be more tightly plotted, with more subtle characterizations than the book - it all depends on how the directors and film crew handle the story. Hungary is a great place to film historical stories - if I recall correctly, the Brother Cadfael mysteries were filmed there.
