Hi
A few days ago I managed to be made librarian at the Goodreads site (Not that difficult. I said I want and they said yes) and I'm completely hooked. :o
Well, I like to see my books with the correct information and cover etc and I like to think that everyone does. But I'm having some problems with a few book covers. Maybe someone can help me identify some covers with the edition they belong to?
So far:

First problem:

I own this book Crown in Candlelight (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/918301.Crown_in_Candlelight) but in my copy the cover is different and there is no isbn number anywhere. It is the hardcover from Little Brown 1978 and my cover is like this:
http://pics.librarything.com/picsizes/7d/85/7d8582355679f7559324a3953514141414c3441.jpg
As you can see its different from the one at Goodreads site. Anyone can confirm if my book could be a different cover edition or is Goodreads wrong? If so from which edition is the cover shown in there?

There is another cover for this book:
http://pics.librarything.com/picsizes/2b/4f/2b4f6bd9169a4a75939435251414141414c3441.jpg
Anyone knows from what edition is that?

Second: Here Be Dragons
What editions are these?

http://pics.librarything.com/picsizes/66/4b/664b3b0e196b631597a4c4852774141414c3441.jpg http://pics.librarything.com/picsizes/06/eb/06ebef4cd858d07592b424e55774141414c3441.jpg

Third: The Sunne in Splendour
What editions are these?

http://pics.librarything.com/picsizes/2d/75/2d7540f65f5cd9b59796f4e52514141414c3441.jpg http://pics.librarything.com/picsizes/0c/4c/0c4c56af0b19a9f5979624849414141414c3441.jpg http://pics.librarything.com/picsizes/2e/fa/2efa698584355d65938706a54674141414c3441.jpg

Thanks :D

I forgot to say please :D

I'm glad to see someone else is doing this at Goodreads. I like to have covers, put them on Amazon too if you will.

The cover for Crown in Candlelight is the one I had on my library's copy. ISBN #0316457825, publisher info/date here:

http://catalog.kcls.org/search/Y?crown%20in%20candlelight

Thanks. I've decided to add my edition without ISBN and the old cover and one of those notes etc

Now I've figured out that the second cover with the white (greyish) top is part of a series edited by the Book of the Month Club. I've found similar style covers for The King's Grey Mare and The Courts of Illusion.

I'll try to check on amazon when I'm sure of this mess but some old books are added by sellers and its impossible to know for certain which book it is if there isnt even a isbn. Better not to touch those. It might lead to a wrong transaction.

Emr - I have the Jarman book of the month editions you are talking about (all 4 of them). Let me know if you need specific information about them.

My copies of Here be Dragons and Sunne in Splendour are the same as the ones on the right of your post....I got them secondhand from online booksellers, so don't know their history but I assume they're just old editions as they've been reissued since.

Nice
I only need confirmation.
Are these the book covers?:

Yay! *hugs*

If it's not much trouble could you post the ISBN number of your copies please?
They are usually on the second or fourth page. If there aren't any then the publisher name and year will do. I take it they are hardcovers?

Thanks :)

I wasn't paying too close attention. The cover for Crown In Candlelight I had from the library is this one.

This is my cover for "Crown in Candlelight". It's a Book Club Associates ed, dated 1978. It has no discernible ISBN.

Should add that this ed was published in London.

My editions of Sharon Penman's Welsh trilogy are like this one for "Falls the Shadow", Ballantine Books ed, 1989.
ISBN 0-345-36033-8
Each one is similar in appearance, but a different colour.

Hi emr! Glad to help. Can't find "Dragons" at the moment:o but have dug out "Sunne" - btw they are both paperbacks. Here are "Sunne"s details:

Publisher is Penguin.
ISBN is 0-14-006764-7
Year is 1982.

Hope that helps a bit!:)

I have the right hand Here Be Dragons too but I'm away from home at the mo. Suspect Madeleine will get you the info first.
Isn't The King's Grey Mare painting the same as one of the editions of a recent Vanora Bennet? Figures in Silk?

Could be. BTW, if you come across you issue of the burnished blade at the same time and see an ISBN # I'd love to put that one up on Amazon and Goodreads as well. Don't spend a lot of time digging though.

I found the second Sunne cover at ebay with full data :) Already in place at goodreads.

The penguin books seem to have different covers with each new reissue. I already have 3 for the penguin paperback. Thanks for your help all of you ;)

In the EC page I've separated those books from the second Elizabeth Chadwick to her own page. Not big problem from now on since it looks like she isnt using the pen name any more.

And (this is a wild guess and I hope I'm not mistaken) I've separated those books about faith and evangelization from the second Michelle Moran. It's easy to fix if I'm wrong about them.

It's amazing how you find here or there one mistake and then there are more and more books to fix :)

Schoonover? Problem is not many books older than 1970 have a ISBN number but I can find some more editions. Sure.
*me jumps in the ebay mess :D

Edit: Some hours later... I've edited everything I've found on Schoonover. The Gentle Infidel hardcover cover is wrong though I know...

No probs, here you go:

Publisher: Fontana/Collins
ISBN: 0-00-617342X
year: 1986 (the note says it's a "Continental Edition").

OK, now I don't know what to do. I have ISBN #055312532X and when I pull it up on Goodreads it's got a different cover. I don't know if I should let it go or change it. Here's the cover I just scanned from this edition of the book (it's priceless).

I don't know if this is true or not, but I know at Paperback Swap when you are posting a book they say the cover art does not have to match - only the title, author, ISBN and binding type. So that would seem to indicate that books with the same ISBN can have different covers. Actually, as I"m typing this I remember one book I sent that the receiver marked "with a problem" because the cover art did not match nor did the year of publication. According to the information I received from the powers that be at PBS, neither of those were legitimate complaints since the receiver admitted the ISBN did match.

I'd change it. Yours is prettier ;) Very similar to Angelique and the Ghosts 055312286X.
Or you can add the book again with a note saying its an alternate cover. The cover we now see in Goodreads might be too widely spread to be able to figure out if its real.

Here: http://www.biblio.com/books/192438205.html It labels it as "later printing"

Another cover for the same 055312532X: http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780553125320-Angelique+in+Barbary+Book+3

Wow, good luck with these :0

I can't give you the ISBN's for them (moved house, library is still boxed-up :( ), but I can ell you that they were both paperbacks (at least my copies are). Dragons is a "normal" sized PB, and Sunne is a taller PB
