I came across this the other day:

ETA: oops - I just realized I probably should have put this in the Movie/TV Forum (mods can move it if you want).

Cool! I have never forgotten the sounds of the flights of arrows as portrayed in Branagh's version of Henry V.... Perhaps the most vivid depiction of what it must have been like I have seen, but those arrows -- I can't imagine what it must have been like to know they were heading right at you with that eerie whistling sound. And it was a tiny, tiny movie budget, too!

I have heard it said that it would be impossible to film the battle absolutely authentically, since many of the English/Welsh troops went into battle without their trousers because they were suffering from dysentry - so they could fight and crap at the same time (charming, I know, but those were desperate times).
In different moods, I'm fond of the Kenneth Branagh and the Laurence Olivier versions of the battle (and I always feel sorry for the French herald).

I think this would be dead good as long as it doesn't star someone like Colin Farrell or Tom Cruise :D

Let's hope they will get BC involved.....Viggio Mortensen or Daniel Craig?

I doubt it'll be Mortensen - I read a recent interview with him, and he's taking an extended break from making films.
I look forward to any film about that battle...

Happy coincidence! I was just wondering on the Bernard Cornwell (http://www.historicalfictiononline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=42705#post42705) thread whether I'd seen mention somewhere on ths forum about an Azincourt movie. Michael Hirst, though --- have to admit that I detest his Tudors series- it really does take artistic licence to the limits! Be interesting to see what he does with the Middle Ages :)

If Hirst is involved, what are the chances of him casting Jonathan Rhys Meyers? (OT -- We watched Ride with the Devil the other night in which Meyers had a role, and I was surprised by how girl-like he looks with his hair long).

Gerard Butler for...something...anything. Hehehe. I love him. :)
I can't wait to see this! I have always liked KB's Henry V and this should be good if done right. :)

Annis, I agree with you regarding Hirst...his involvement is bothersome....hopefully he won't cast anybody from the Tudors....I hope BC will be looking over Hirst's shoulder....
