hi everyone!
julianne douglas' blog post pointed
me this way. so good to be here!
historical fiction is one of my
favorite genres to read. some of
the novels i really enjoyed
from 2007 include :
confessions of an ugly stepsister
by gregory maguire
the boleyn legacy
by phillpa gregory
the blood of flowers
by anita amirrezvani
my debut novel will be published
by greenwillow books / harpercollins
in summer 2009. it's a YA asian fantasy.
i was labeling it historical fantasy until
i went to the old forum and found
mine doesn't qualify. 8)
altho i use elements of ancient china,
the book isn't based in an actual time
or place. i'm also a chinese brush art
student and you can see some of my
paintings on my website :

look forward to interesting discussions!

Your novel sounds very interesting! You'll have to tell me when it comes out. I have a lot of girls who are into the whole fantasy thing now cause of Twilight.
I do have a blog
http://yabookmarks.blogspot.com
I try to update it weekly. Sometimes if I'm really on the ball it could be twice a week :)
Welcome to the MB!
BTW, you need to turn on our Private Message feature. ;)

divia, i got your PM and i hope
you got mine. i need to link your blog!
i didn't read a lot of YA before -- i didn't
realize i had written YA until i tried to
find an agent. live and learn. =)
so i've been delving more into the genre--
very different than what i grew up with.
twilight is so compelling.
my novel is different, but i hope
also compelling in its own way.
thanks for asking more about it!
melisende, thank you!
it's quite the journey. very
surreal, like your first pregnancy.
haha! i vacillate between utter joy
and complete terror at the thought
of my book going out into the world.

Welcome to the forum - your nickname is so pretty. Your artwork slideshow is absolutely lovely - especially the birds. If a copy of your robin is available, please let me know. I love the way he's looking at me :).
I also look forward to your novel's publication.

Hey, xiao! Great to see you here! Proof at least one person reads my blog. :p
You'll really enjoy the discussions and people here. It's a great place to hang out. See you around!
>confessions of an ugly stepsister
by gregory maguire
Sistah! As much as I loved his Wicked, I really liked this one. Its not as deep with so many layers, but what a good read. BTW try Mirror Mirror, a Snow White story with Lucrezia Borgia as the wicked step mother!
BTW, welcome!

julianne, i love your blog!
i got two book recs from you, michelle
moran's nefertiti and then i also
got the last queen off my wishlist
for my bday and i can't wait to read it! =D
ash, i found myself not interested in
picking up wicked. it was the cover that
drew me to the shelf, then i saw his
other books. and the ugly stepsister one
really piqued my interest. even tho it
was written in first person present, i really
enjoyed it. thanks for the rec!!
divia, i've linked ya!
